Two Masked Men Try To Rob 67-Year-Old Man, Pay The Price

A 67-year-old man, while enjoying a day at Cobbs Creek Park in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, confronted two masked individuals. One wielded a toy pellet gun, and the other brandished a stick, demanding the man’s valuables. The man refused and a scuffle ensued. In the chaos, the elderly man drew a .38 caliber handgun and fatally shot the masked robber. Following the altercation, the man experienced chest pains and was taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, the accomplice with the stick fled the scene, evading identification by the police.

The police view the incident as an act of self-defense, sparing the intended victim from charges. The man, a legal concealed weapons holder from Philadelphia, had no prior criminal record. When he turned around and encountered the robbers, one with a mask and a gun, he took swift action, grappling with the assailant before using his real firearm. The police believe he acted in self-defense, unaware that the robber’s gun was a toy, commending his ability to protect himself.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood praised the victim’s self-defense, stating, “he did a great job defending himself.”
