Tragic Lightning Strike Claims Father and Son in Texas

A devastating lightning strike in Valley Mills, Texas, claimed the lives of Matthew Boggs, 34, and his six-year-old son, Grayson, as they walked down their driveway on May 15. Matthew died instantly, and Grayson, critically injured, battled brain damage for over a month before succumbing on June 16.

Heartbreakingly, just moments before the tragedy, Matthew expressed his love to Grayson. Angela Boggs, the grief-stricken grandmother, recounted, “Matthew had just got done telling Grayson that he loved him, he said ‘I love you buddy,’ that’s when the lightning came down.”

Grayson was immediately placed on life support in a coma, displaying some signs of improvement in the weeks that followed. However, doctors later confirmed irreversible brain damage due to oxygen deprivation.

Despite initial hope, the family faced the agonizing decision to remove Grayson from life support. He passed away on June 16, at 5 a.m., deepening the unimaginable grief for the Boggs family.

In the days before Grayson’s passing, the family shared updates on a GoFundMe page, highlighting their strength during this challenging time.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the unpredictable nature of lightning strikes, especially in states like Texas. It serves as a poignant reminder for individuals and families to stay informed and prepared to minimize the risk of such tragedies.
