Millionaire builds 99 homes to reduce homelessness in his town

Millionaire’s Tiny Homes Tackle Homelessness

Marcel LeBrun, an eastern Canadian millionaire, has gained widespread attention for his $4 million initiative to combat homelessness. Having sold his company for a significant sum, LeBrun is investing in the creation of 99 tiny homes in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where 1,800 people experienced homelessness in 2022.

These compact dwellings, forming the ’12 Neighbours’ community, offer basic amenities such as a kitchen, a small bed space, and a bathroom, supplemented by front decking and solar panels. Despite their modest size, the primary goal is to provide a roof, safety, and warmth for those in need.

As the project reached the completion of 70 homes, it secured an additional $12 million in government grants. LeBrun, speaking to CBC, emphasized his motivation, urging people to share the initiative with their friends and family, thereby raising awareness and garnering support for the cause.
