Jeff Bridges opens up about health struggles of last 2 years – he didn’t think he was going to make it

Jeff Bridges Triumphs Over Health Challenges: A Comeback Story

For decades, Jeff Bridges has been a Hollywood mainstay, but the past two years tested the veteran actor’s resilience. Diagnosed with cancer in October 2020, Bridges candidly shared his health journey, expressing gratitude for the support: “Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors, and the prognosis is good.”

Enduring cancer treatment, he faced an additional hurdle—contracting Covid-19 along with his wife Susan Geston. Despite putting on a brave front, the toll on his aging body was immense. In January 2022, as Bridges received a Lifetime Achievement award at the Critics Choice Awards, he revealed the depth of his struggles: “I was sick for two years—with cancer and COVID. I didn’t think I was going to make it at all, let alone get going back to work.”

Overwhelmed by the honor, Bridges dedicated the award to his late father, Lloyd Bridges. Despite forgetting some prepared remarks, in the press room, he shared his remarkable journey: “Because they supported me so beautifully, I was able to go back and finish The Old Man.” Reflecting on the surreal interruption of the show’s production, he likened it to a “two-year-long weekend.”

The actor, now 73, described the last two years as dreamlike, expressing gratitude for the support that enabled his return to work. Looking ahead, he shared enthusiasm for the upcoming season of The Old Man, commencing in March. Jeff Bridges, having triumphed over health adversities, stands poised for a triumphant return to the screen.
