Female Pool Player Walks Away From Game Against Trans Opponent

In a recent Women’s Pool tournament in Wales, Lynne Pinches made headlines for refusing to play against a trans opponent, Harriet Haynes, who was born male. Pinches, advocating for divisions based on biology rather than gender identity, decided to forfeit the match. Her brother, Barry Pinches, a pro pool player, praised her for taking a stand, emphasizing that it’s unfair for women to compete against trans women in sports.

Barry stated, “It is totally unfair to expect women to compete against trans women in pool or any other sport for that matter.” The controversy arose when the governing body allowed trans women to participate, sparking opposition from some biological female players who believed it compromised the integrity of the sport. Barry clarified that the concern was about fairness in women’s sports and not rooted in hate.

Despite pool being non-contact, there are perceived advantages for male competitors, such as greater strength and speed. Harriet Haynes ultimately won the tournament due to Pinches’ forfeit, prompting speculation about how the governing body will address the controversy and the inclusion of trans women in future events.
